Notes: State audit of California’s CalGang database found a 13% error rate across Santa Ana, LAPD, and Santa Clara/Sonoma sheriffs — including 42 people entered into the database with birth dates showing them as under 1 year old. 25 of the 100 reviewed entries came from Santa Ana PD, 3 with inadequate justification. Older article (2016) but foundational for understanding gang-database misuse patterns that predate and parallel current ALPR abuse.
